Building a sales funnel and integrating a payment system is actually easier than you think in WordPress. You just need a few key pieces and a simple understanding of the process.

Here's what you need.

Every registration or sales funnel needs 3 things.

The sales page.

The payment system.

The confirmation.

The Sales Page

The starting point for any funnel is the sales or registration page. You'll want to include:

  • All the details of your offer, webinar or service and all its benefits.
  • An embedded payment form or button to the payment form.
  • Bonus: frequently asked questions and testimonials.

The Payment System.

The payment system - or gateway as it's often called - requires you to choose one that satisfies how you want to receive money and how convenient it is for your customers to pay. Payment gateways include Stripe, PayPal or Square. You will need:

  • Choose a payment gateway.
  • Choose to use a WordPress plugin to embed a form or button on your sales page. Plugins often support both Stripe and PayPal.
  • If you're using PayPal, you can use code provided by PayPal to embed a PayPal button on your sales page.

The Confirmation.

Once the sales is successfully completed, you need:

  • A thank you page, which should include what the customer will receive soon and what they may do next. You can also include an up-sell or even pages, posts they may also like browse or read.
  • A receipt, which is typically automatically sent by the chosen payment gateway, but some information can also be included on the thank you page if you're using a plugin.
  • To send a follow-up email with further details of your product or next steps for your service such as booking time on your calendar.
